Would you like to support a local family?

Would you like to do some really rewarding volunteering?  Could you help to support a Midlothian family who are finding things a bit of a struggle?

Home Link are looking for volunteers to visit a family once a week for 2 hours, for about a year.  Most of the families are isolated and lonely and they really value someone who is ‘on their side’, not judging and not telling them what to do.  Some are not confident about parenting and need you alongside them to help.  Some don’t get out much and need you to help them get organised and out into the fresh air for some fun.  Others would really just like someone to listen.  Every family is different but they all have at least one child under 5.

Home Link will give you full training, all expenses and a Project Worker to meet with regularly to support you.

You don’t need any experience or to be a parent yourself; you just need to be over 18, friendly and positive.

Their next training courses are:

  • Wednesdays 27 Aug ,3rd, 10, 18th Sept 2014, 9,.30am-2pm
  • Saturdays 1st, 8th, 15th Nov 2014, 10am -4pm
