1:1 Support (Learning Disabilities) - Shared Lives
‘Shared Lives’ supports adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities in a family setting.
Shared Lives Carers use their home as a welcoming base providing Short Breaks and/or Day care. They share their family and community life with someone who needs some support to live independently.
For one night, a weekend, or longer the person you care for can stay with their ‘Shared Lives Carer’, in their home where they will participate in the daily activities of their family home, go on outings and activities – such as visiting a museum, going to watch a film or having a meal out. You will be asked to contribute to the cost of a short break. To find out how much this may cost read Paying for a wee break with Shared Lives
The person you care for will join with another person to spend time together with their ‘Shared Lives Carers’. They spend around 6 hours a day with their carer and activities include baking, drawing or playing dominoes, walking swimming or bowling etc.
