Art in Healthcare – Outreach Programme

Art Workshops for care environments.

Art in Healthcare (AiH) are an arts provider for health organisations in Scotland. Through consultation and discussion they create stimulating environments that contribute to an effective healing process.

One of their services includes providing social and engaging art workshops for patients, care home residents and sheltered housing communities, amongst others. They have worked with groups including Alzheimer Scotland’s Day Care Centre in Granton, CHAS (Children’s Hospices in Kinross and Balloch), Wester Hailes Healthy Living Centre (Carer’s group), St Crispin’s Special School, Libertus Day Care Centre for the Elderly, Hanover Housing sheltered housing, The Royal Hospital for Sick Children and Link-Up Women’s Support. See here for a film of the workshop series at Sunnyside Court sheltered housing in the Summer of 2013.

AiH hire professional artists to run the workshops who take along artworks of their choice from the AiH’s Collection to inspire the participants with the creation of their own artworks. AiH then hold an annual exhibition showcasing a selection of artworks created in the outreach programme – see here for images from their 2013/14 outreach programme. If you are interested in having similar workshops with your group then get in touch with the Outreach Manager, to discuss your ideas – see contact details on the right.
